Hello friends, I apologize for my absence from my blog... which i promised I would keep you updated on. Life in China has been grand. I've been here for almost a month now. My kids that I teach are a handful but they are so darling and sweet. So far I have had the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong, Guzhen (my city), Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. All of which were unique and beautiful! On Wednesday I am getting on a train to visit Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, and Xian!
I can already tell I am going to have a hard time leaving China...
I love all the fruit stands on every street corner, the people getting acupuncture on the side of the road, all the hellos - waves - and stares, the street market where everything above $3 is too expensive, the families all piled onto one motorcycle, I love how every night at the park people gather to play table tennis (ping pong), badminton, ballroom dance, and practice Kung Fu. I love how you can go to a restaurant and get a entire meal for under $2. I love that if I need to get anywhere I just hop onto the back of a strange mans motorcycle and he will take me where ever I need to go. Everyday I am more and more amazed by the generosity, unselfishness and kindness of the Chinese people. - I couldn't think of a better way to spend this semester.
